Crafter Mojo is back....

Well I kinda lost touch of my crafty/artsy side and threw everything on the back burner. Even, sadly, my Etsy shop and this blog. Which thanks to my cafemom team they pointed out some fixer uppers to make the shop better. I just still need to take the advice into action...but procrastination and whatever is keeping me from doing so. UGH!. I really need to straighten up and get out of this funk. But I think the mojo is starting to come back....

Well the mojo seem to have started coming back in the spirit of making my daughters Halloween costume. A tutu and butterfly wings. She was just to cute for words (I know a bias mom moment, LOL). Then also due to the holidays in trying to save a little money and also to make gifts more personal I've decided to throw my hands into making those neat felt food I kept seeing online. They were so simple and fast to make, it got me excited again to be crafting. So here's the recent project I did. I apologize for the horrible photos of the felt foods but right now I can't find my USB cord for my cam. so I took these with my cell phone. (man I would like to know where that cord is!!! LOL)

Hello Virginia

So, We made it cross country and what a trip it was. Exhausting as well. We left WA. April 4th and took 2 weeks road tripping with seeing family on the way. Getting us here April 20th. 2 little ones and a dog...I'm sure you can imagine the trip. Though I swear my bigger problem child was my husband and his crankiness with the kids when they would get into it....

The trip was fun though. It made the move feel more like a vacation for awhile there. The kids got spoiled with lots of Easter candy (being Easter was the holiday on our trip). Which I'm still getting sick of seeing all the candy, LOL. For this mama who needs to loose weight, it's hard when you have chocolate eggs and rabbits over taking your kitchen pantry. On the trip it seemed we drove threw nearly the 4 seasons with Washington, Cali, and Colorado spring rain, Oregon, Missouri and Tennessee had the hot summer like weather and we even dealt with Snow in some places...it was crazy! Man did it mess with my Allergies and Asthma but I did good staying on top of my meds. Now though the trip was fun, reality hit when we walked into our new home. A beautiful home at that but to have moved was hard on me emotionally. To leave so many great friends and the best supportive command my husband was stationed to yet. To have to watch my 5yr not understand why he had to leave his school and friends. It's hard to start all over and be peachy about it. But so far we are doing our best.

the new house

Now almost 4 weeks here we are now settling in more. Still have some minor decorating to do around the house like window treatments and picture hang but those are so easy to get done. We've found a church. I've transferred my Curves membership here so I can start loosing all the travel weight plus more. I've also joined a few local groups online so I can hopefully meet folks around here (I've made some of my greatest friends online in the past so maybe I can make new ones again). This weekend should prove interesting as Matthew has invited a co-worker and his family over for dinner. I truly hope it goes well. Though I'm sure it will and if it doesn't OH WELL cos my life will go on.
Which, meanwhile, as life goes on I want to get back to my crafting. I've been itching to do so... especially painting this time around. I need to also reopen shop, so I set the date of May 30th for my Grand Reopening! I'm hoping to get new items in there and get business up and running like crazy :). So with all this in mind I will sign off and get to crackin' on some craftin', LOL.

Meet Billy

So I was at a store the other day in the toy section and noticed those Ugly Dolls. Well my theme this year for gift giving is homemade and upcycled. So I couldn't resist making one with more a teddy bear look for the cutness. I named him billy. He's made for a little girl I know out of upcycled upholstery and vintage button with a scrap fabric heart. I know he doesn't have a mouth but I thought the eyes had enough personality that he didn't need it and my friends that was over agreed. My hubby thought it was a horrible looking bear and couldn't believe I would do this on purpose, LOL, but my 19mo old LOVED him. So I guess I'm going to have to make one for her as well....LOL. So I figure Hey if it passed my toddler test I'm sure the gift will be a hit with the toddler (leaving nameless so the parents don't know, LOL) I'm giving this to for christmas. I even added a note....

"Hi, *****!
My name is Billy.
I may not be the
Cutiest bear on the
block but I was
made with lots of
love and a unique
personality
XOXO"

So anywho, I know I've been gone awhile in the blogging world but with the holidays I've been busy busy. Busy with having fun with my family, now that my hubby is home, like going to or having christmas parties, went to an awesome Concert (first childless date we had in a LONG time, TEE HEE) and busy with getting all the christmas gifts done or bought. I kinda can't wait for the holidays to be over so I can get back to a slower routine. Though I have been enjoying life. Happy Holidays

Rockin' Halloween!

So I already showed off my first attempt of a tutu and posted my DD in her costume for this year but here is my 4yr old son in his. He wanted to be a Rock Star (whoo Hoo my mind thought CHEAP AND EASY and it was). I made him a strap for his toy guitar cos I refused to let him tote the real one daddy gave him. He stuck a drum stick in his back pocket. I smudge eyeliner on his eyes and gave him black lipstick.....So ok he turned out to be more Emo Punk Rocker. But now that I look at these pics for some reason I'm reminded of the band Green Day. Crazy......

Meow!

Ok so I'm tired of commercial costumes....They are over priced yet cheaply made. Well like last year I made my sons costume of him wanting to be a pirate...I hit the thrifts and freecycle for things and just bought the hat kit. I loved how it turned out and had so much fun making it. So with that in mind I got excited to make the kids costume again this year. Both costumes are extremely easy. My son wants to be a Rock Star which we have everything already no need to have bought anything and with my Daughter I've been drooling over these AWESOME tutus people make and sell on Etsy....so I put my feet in the water and tried to make a tutu for my lil girl and so Folks here it is......I just got finish making it today and HAD to try it on her and take pics, lol.

Mommy and Son craft time...

So my son is going to a school mates birthday party today. My theme this year is homemade in the gift giving department. So I had the idea, this past thursday, of him and I making recycle crayons. We had alot of fun doing it. I also posted this on the kids blog. It makes me happy to know how proud he is to be giving such a cool gift that HE made.
